Are you ready to tackle some of the most complex and rewarding challenges in the industry? Our team is growing, and as a result we're looking for Laboratory and Field Technicians to join our amazing group of professionals.

As part of the Materials Engineering Team across Atlantic Canada, you will be responsible for driving forward our ambitious plans to enhance our service offering in the province through your work with a close-knit team of engineering specialists, professionals, and technical staff. You will conduct various tests, analyses, and experiments to characterize and evaluate the properties of materials used in construction for our major clients.

Your contributions will directly impact the advancement of cutting-edge technologies and the creation of novel materials that drive our industry forward. This position is expected to support seasonal project demands and may be offered as a seasonal role, depending on workload and business needs.

Perform a range of field and/or laboratory tests and experiments to assess material (soil, concrete and hot mix asphalt) properties, composition, and behaviour.

Operate and maintain testing equipment and instruments, ensuring accurate and reliable results.

Support equipment calibration, maintenance and general housekeeping requirements to maintain a safe working environment.

Support sample management and safe material handling practices required for shipping, receiving, logging, handling, storage and disposal of samples.

Collaborate closely with engineers, scientists and technical specialists to support ongoing projects and deliver valuable insights.

Compile and analyze experimental data using a variety of test methods and prepare clear, concise reports.

Manage multiple projects simultaneously using strong organizational and scheduling skills.

Follow WSP's Project Review, Ethics and Safety Policies while contributing to the success of major infrastructure and construction projects.

Excellent teamwork and communication skills, enabling effective collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.

Experience or interest in field and laboratory testing of construction materials such as soils, concrete and asphalt.

Proficiency in using laboratory equipment and software for data analysis.

Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy and precision in all tasks.

You enjoy a combination of fieldwork and office-based work and are comfortable travelling to various project sites as required. You aren't afraid to get your hands dirty!

A valid driver's licence and the ability to provide a current, satisfactory driver's abstract are required, as regular travel to project sites and field locations will be necessary.

You are a self-starter who is driven to learn and eager to engage with a multidisciplinary team.

Sound understanding of health and safety requirements in the workplace and a strong safety-first mindset.

Good written and verbal English communication skills, along with strong reliability, punctuality and time-management skills.

Light to moderate lifting may be required.
