At Stantec, our mine water work sits at the intersection of complex hydrology, environmental protection, and responsible resource development. In Atlantic Canada, that complexity is amplified—high‑precipitation climates, legacy mine sites, sensitive receiving environments, and evolving regulatory expectations create challenges that demand experienced, thoughtful leadership. We are seeking an Atlantic Discipline Leader for our Mine Water practice to shape, grow, and lead our mine water services in Atlantic Canada, with a particular emphasis on surface water and integrated mine water management.

This role is designed for a senior practitioner who wants more than project delivery—someone motivated to help build a practice, mentor people, influence standards, and leave a lasting professional legacy.

• Serve as the technical and strategic lead for mine water management across Atlantic Canada, helping define service offerings, technical focus areas, and growth priorities
• Shape how Stantec approaches surface water management, mine water balances, and integrated water systems in high‑precipitation and cold‑climate environments
• Partner with leadership to support strategic pursuits, key client relationships, and long‑term practice growth
• Contribute to the development of technical standards, guidance documents, and best practices that elevate consistency, quality, and innovation across the business
• Act as a visible technical ambassador for Stantec through industry involvement, presentations, and thought leadership

• Provide senior technical leadership for mine water management across all project phases:
  Environmental assessment and permitting
• Feasibility and detailed design
• Operations support and optimization
• Closure and post‑closure water management
• Lead and review site‑wide water balances, surface water diversion systems, contact water management strategies, and adaptive management frameworks
• Act as a senior advisor on ARD/ML prediction, mitigation, and long‑term water quality management
• Serve as Technical Lead, Discipline Lead, Subject Matter Expert, or Senior Reviewer on complex and high‑profile mining projects
• Support clients in navigating provincial and federal regulatory requirements with clear, defensible, and practical water management strategies

• Actively mentor intermediate and senior mine water professionals, supporting both technical depth and professional confidence
• Coach emerging practitioners in surface water fundamentals, integrated mine water thinking, and practical decision‑making
• Foster a culture of knowledge sharing, technical curiosity, and continuous improvement
• Support succession planning by helping identify, develop, and prepare future technical leaders
• Provide informal and formal guidance through project work, technical reviews, and one‑on‑one mentorship relationships
• Help create an environment where early‑career professionals are challenged, supported, and inspired to stay and grow
