The Senior Financial Analyst is a key member of the Operational Finance team and serves a critical role in providing strategic, analytical, and process-driven support. This role encompasses the preparation, analysis, and continuous enhancement of financial reporting for diverse business units, with an emphasis on providing actionable insights to drive operational performance.
The incumbent will work cross-functionally with Operations (specifically Terminal Operations), and collaborate with stakeholders in Accounting, IT, and Business Process Improvement to ensure timely, accurate, and relevant financial deliverables. The ability to lead data-driven projects and support change management initiatives is essential.
ResponsibilitiesHow You'll Help:
- Preparation and delivery of detailed financial and performance management reports (daily, weekly, monthly), utilizing automated reporting tools where possible to ensure consistency and accuracy;
- Lead monthly forecasting using both historical data and predictive analytics, identifying cost trends and performance drivers across the terminal network;
- Analyze variances, identify inefficiencies, and propose actionable solutions for operational improvement;
- Collaborate in the annual budgeting cycle; coordinate data collection, validation, and presentation to senior stakeholders, ensuring alignment between operational goals and financial targets;
- Actively participate in month- and quarter-end close activities: collect key data, respond to inquiries, initiate journal entries, and review accounts for accuracy and completeness;
- Serve as the primary financial advisor to terminal employees; provide on-demand support and training for financial tools and processes, including remote and onsite sessions;
- Foster strong, proactive relationships with terminal staff and cross-functional partners; champion open communication and mutual problem-solving;
- Lead or support continuous improvement projects, including process automation, system upgrades, and data quality initiatives; document workflows and procedures;
- Ensure compliance with company financial policies and internal controls;
- Contribute to ad hoc analysis and strategic planning activities as required.
Your
Skills & Experience:
- Post‑secondary degree in Finance, Accounting or related field; CPA or equivalent designation preferred;
- 5+ years of progressive business/finance experience, including financial analysis, planning, budgeting and business partnering;
- Prior exposure to operational finance in transportation/logistics industry highly valuable;
- Experience in or exposure to process automation technologies (Power BI, Tableau, Alteryx, etc.) considered an asset;
- Advanced numerical, analytical, and problem‑solving aptitude;
- Demonstrated leadership and mentorship abilities;
- Excellent organizational and multi‑tasking skills to meet and exceed deadlines;
- Highly proficient with Excel and other MS Office applications; experience with ERP or BI tools highly desirable;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to tailor information to diverse audiences.
