Ameresco’s Atlantic Canada team as an immediate opening for a Project Director
, overseeing a major Energy Savings Performance Contract at a federal client site near Fredericton, NB
. This site-based role runs through 2027 and offers the opportunity to lead complex infrastructure upgrades, drive sustainability, and deliver measurable energy savings on a national scale.
Responsibilities
Provide Senior Level Project Management, support, and oversight for Projects in Atlantic Canada.Manage and oversee project lifecycle, including feasibility, budgeting, scheduling, execution, and completion.Team Leadership & Development – Demonstrate proven leadership skills to supervise, mentor, and train project staff, including junior Project Managers, Construction Managers and Project Coordinators.Quality Assurance - Ensure construction is executed per approved plans, specifications, and quality standards.Contract Management - Negotiate and manage subcontracts, purchase orders, change orders, and contract responsibilitiesRelationship Management - Maintain strong relationships with owners, architects, consultants, subcontractors, and public stakeholdersManage budgets, cost forecasting, cash flow, payment requests, and change orders; ensure accurate financial trackingDevelop, monitor, and update project schedules, identify the critical path, and implement recovery actions when neededEnforce corporate health and safety programs, ensuring compliance with Ameresco and client health & safety obligations.Collaboration with internal and external Engineering to ensure design development and coordination aligns with project goals, schedule and progress.Manage all administrative functions according to company policies, leveraging project management systemsProvide monthly reports on cost forecasts, schedules, cash flow, and project reforecasts.Lead project close-out efforts, including archiving documentation, commissioning, resolving deficiencies, and ensuring warranty workPlan logistics, oversee site coordination, conduct meetings, and manage site administrationStrategically oversee risk across the project and ensure mitigation measures are effectively implementedProvide a structured decision-making framework, ensuring clear accountability and escalation mechanismsUse robust project control systems for cost, schedule, and performance tracking, ensuring projects stay on trackSourcing resources for project managers as the project demands dictateProvide input to project team to consider alternate measures and suppliers to ensure we are not complacent based on past practice. Incorporate and integrate experiences from other projects with project managers to ensure best practices.Provide support and backup for project managers, as required.Achieve client and company spend/revenue targetsEnsure compliance with our contractual obligations (to client and to subcontractors)Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum of 10 years of combined related technical, design and project management experience, with demonstrated leadership skills and experience.Minimum of 5 years commercial/industrial power, electrical, mechanical, or engineering construction management experience focusing on complex facility infrastructure construction, renovations, retrofits, upgrades, building controls and automation, and energy services.Must be legally entitled to work in Canada without…
