Position Details

Security Patrol Officer – Entry Level, Full‑time, Fredericton, NB.

Hourly rate: $23.94 – $26.77 per hour.

• Shift work, variable hours, 40 hours per week.
• Possession of valid workplace First Aid, CPR, and WHMIS certificates and certifications must be maintained as a condition of employment.
• Required to provide a criminal record check.
• A valid Canadian driver's license is required.

• Conduct inspections of university buildings for safety and fire hazards, mechanical problems, or other occurrences which result in loss or damage to property.
• Maintain security of buildings and grounds.
• Perform dispatch duties (monitor the computerized alarm system and security cameras, answer emergency phone, maintain key control, and perform telephone and radio dispatch duties).
• Ensure that only authorized persons are admitted to specific labs, offices, and classrooms after hours.
• Question suspicious persons in buildings as to their intent and purpose of being in the building.
• Complete occurrence reports on initial response to complaints and occurrences.
• Perform traffic enforcement duties as required.
• Prepare a duty report at the end of the shift.
• Secure the scene of occurrence which involves action by other agencies such as the Fire Department and Police Department.
• Assist training new security personnel.
• Perform crowd control duties as required.
• Assist Student Campus Patrol as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

• High School Diploma or equivalent.

• Previous security experience is preferred.
• Must be willing to engage with the diverse campus community.
• Completion of a security training course from a community college is an asset.
