As a Shelter Security Officer at Admiral Security, you will play a vital role in maintaining a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for shelter residents, staff, and visitors. This role requires strong interpersonal skills, sound judgment, and the ability to respond effectively to sensitive situations involving vulnerable populations.

• Access Control:
  Monitor and manage entry to the shelter, ensuring all residents and visitors follow established policies and procedures.
• Patrols:
  Conduct regular patrols of the facility to maintain safety, identify risks, and deter disturbances.
• De‑escalation & Conflict Resolution:
  Respond calmly and professionally to conflicts or crises, using de‑escalation techniques to resolve situations safely.
• Emergency Response:
  Act promptly during emergencies (medical incidents, fire alarms, disturbances), following proper protocols and contacting emergency services when required.
• Resident Support Presence:
  Maintain a visible, approachable presence to support residents while enforcing rules respectfully and consistently.
• Surveillance:
  Monitor security systems and report suspicious or concerning behavior.
• Report Writing:
  Accurately document incidents, observations, and actions taken during shifts.
• Collaboration:
  
  Work closely with shelter staff, social workers, and emergency responders to ensure coordinated care and safety.

• No Prior License
  
  Required:
  
  We can assist with the security guard licensing process.
• Experience with Vulnerable Populations:
  Experience in shelters, social services, healthcare, or similar environments is highly valued.
• First Aid & CPR Certification:
  Certification is required.
• Strong Communication

  Ability to communicate clearly, calmly, and respectfully in all situations.

  Demonstrated ability to handle high‑stress situations and de‑escalate conflicts.

• Professional & Compassionate Approach:

• Valid NB Driver’s License: A valid New Brunswick driver's license is preferred.
• Bilingualism (French & English) is an asset.
