Team Lead / Supervisor

Schedule:

8-hour shifts (Days, Nights, Weekends as scheduled)

Compensation: $20.00 – $22.00 per hour

Position Overview
The Youth Intervention Support Worker (YISW) plays a vital role in maintaining both the emotional and physical safety of youth living in alternative Housing. This position combines the responsibilities of a Youth Support Worker with enhanced training in safety awareness, crisis prevention, and behavioral intervention. YISWs help create a stable and supportive home environment by providing mentorship, daily living support, and calm, effective responses to behavioral or safety-related situations.

They are responsible for implementing trauma-informed care practices, maintaining documentation standards, and upholding the safety and well-being of everyone within the home.

Key Responsibilities

Take the lead in any heightened situations and direct the team on how to support and de-escalate the situation to ensure the youth and team's well-being.

Provide direct care, guidance, and emotional support to youth in care.

Maintain a safe and secure environment through routine safety checks and situational awareness.

Respond to behavioral incidents and crises using approved de-escalation and intervention techniques (e.g., NVCI).

Accurately document and report incidents, observations, and daily progress in accordance with WFS policies.

Collaborate with team members and external partners such as law enforcement or clinical professionals when appropriate.

Model empathy, respect, and professionalism to promote a culture of safety, stability, and trust.

Qualifications

Diploma in Police Foundations, Security, Community Justice Services, or related human services field.

Experience working with at-risk youth in residential or community settings.

Training in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) or equivalent.

Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.

Ability to remain calm and professional in high-stress situations.
