Position: Social Worker Summer Jobs)

Reports To

Manager of Social Work

Responsibilities
  • Assist Social Workers in evaluating and supporting client conditions and needs.
  • Contact clients and follow up with enquiries.
  • Advise clients and their families or caregivers about help that is available to them.
  • Counsel family members to assist them in understanding and supporting the client.
  • Provide socialization with clients.
  • Maintain client profiles and update manuals.
  • Assist with administrative tasks and projects.
  • Attend and participate in team meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Enrolled in or completed a post‑secondary degree or diploma in Social Work, Social Service Worker, or Community Service Worker.
  • Experience working with seniors and persons with dementia is an asset.
  • Counseling skills including active listening and a non‑judgmental approach.
  • Excellent communication, organizational and time‑management skills.
Eligibility for Canada Summer Jobs Program
  • Position is made possible through Canada Summer Jobs, an initiative of Employment and Social Development Canada.
  • Participants must be between 15‑30 years of age at the start of the funded position.
  • Participants must be Canadian Citizens, permanent residents, or people granted refugee status.
  • Participants must have a valid SIN.
  • International students and those on work, youth, or visitor visas/permits are not eligible.
