Job Description
  • Foster growth and positive life choices, while promoting individuals in becoming connected to their community and First Nation traditions.
  • Maintain a social and emotional climate within the alternative home that is therapeutically oriented and follows the clients’ treatment goals to include communicating with the client in a respectful and professional manner exhibiting empathy and understanding.
  • Assist youth/child in identifying attainable short and long-term goals, strategies for meeting these goals, and an action plan for implementation.
  • Address serious behavior, mental health, emotional, and addictions struggles through counselling, implementing special covenant, defusing/managing critical incidents, supportive relationships, and referrals to your supervisor to aid in other programs and or community service providers.
  • Exercise good judgment in making quick decisions if required to act in a crisis.

Qualifications:

Degree or Diploma in any of the following:

  • Human Services
  • Child and Youth
  • Early Childhood Education
  • A Bachelors Degree
OR

Demonstrated experience working with individuals with any of the following: autism, mental illness, learning disabilities, behavioral issues, special needs, etc.

Other requirements:
  • Criminal Record check with vulnerable sector screening, Social Development Check and drivers abstract.
  • Valid driver's license
  • Training in First Aid, Suicide intervention, non-violent crisis intervention etc. will be considered an asset.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $17.00-$19.00 per hour
