Engineer​/Bridge Inspector

Van Cleef Engineering has an immediate opening for an entry-level Bridge Engineer/Inspector in our Freehold, NJ office (or potentially other Van Cleef offices). This is a full-time, immediate opportunity.

• Perform beginning-level bridge safety inspection work as a member of a bridge safety inspection team and assist higher-level inspectors
• May be required to perform manual labor such as climbing onto scaffolding and carrying/using ladders to access bridge structures
• Assist in the design and detailing/drafting of bridge and highway elements
• Prepare bridge inspection reports

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering preferred;
• 0-5 years of experience, preferably with bridge inspections, or similar field/construction related work;
• Valid Driver’s License;
• Strong communication, data management and technical writing skills, both oral and written;
• Proficiency in the use of computers for developing engineering spreadsheets and report writing;
• Attendance of Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges (NHI Course 130053) is a plus;
• Ability to work nights on occasion;
• Ability to work from raised work platforms over roadways and waterways, and physical ability to carry ladders and other inspection equipment;
• Proficiency with AutoCAD or Micro Station is a plus.

$65,000 - $85,000 annually commensurate with experience.
