Position: Highway Design Engineer

Location: Freehold, NJ

YOUR DAY AS A HIGHWAY DESIGN ENGINEER
  • Perform roadway and highway safety inspections and related engineering analysis
  • Design various highway components including geometry, access, drainage, guide rail, signage, striping, MPT, right‑of‑way, and other related features
  • Prepare technical documents such as reports, design plans, specifications, cost estimates, and bid packages
  • Collaborate with multi‑disciplinary internal teams as well as external subconsultants
  • Conduct site visits to support clients during the construction phase of projects
  • Perform quality assurance reviews to ensure technical accuracy and consistency
  • Coordinate and participate in client meetings and contribute to ongoing client relationship development
YOUR HOURS

This is a full-time Highway Design Engineer position based in our Freehold, NJ office. While the core schedule typically runs Monday through Friday, occasional site visits and client meetings may require flexibility.
Workload and hours may vary depending on project demands, particularly during peak phases or construction activities

REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
  • 12+ years of highway design experience, including intersections and roundabouts
  • Strong skills in drainage and stormwater management design
  • Experience designing Maintenance and Traffic Protection (MPT)
  • A valid driver's license and a clean driving record
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to juggle multiple projects effectively
  • A self‑motivated, team‑oriented attitude
Preferred
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in New Jersey and/or Pennsylvania
  • Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certificate
  • Experience with NJDOT, NJ Turnpike Authority, and/or PennDOT
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and Micro Station
