Job Description & How to Apply Below

EXCEL Group is a renowned industrial contractor with a commitment to excellence and a track record of delivering exceptional projects. We are seeking a talented and dedicated Industrial Instrumentation and Electrical (I&E) Planner to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning and scheduling all maintenance activities related to electrical systems and instrumentation within the facility. This includes developing detailed job plans for routine maintenance, preventive maintenance (PM), engineering projects, and shutdowns.

The I&E Planner ensures efficient use of available resources, proper backlog management, and compliance with safety and environmental standards. This role is essential to ensuring reliable operations of electrical and instrumentation systems while minimizing downtime and maintaining safety. This role requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively under pressure.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Safety Leadership: Prioritize safety in all maintenance activities. Ensure all work orders include appropriate safety considerations, such as PPE, lockout/tagout procedures, hazardous energy isolation, and environmental compliance.
  • I&E Work Order Planning: Plan and prepare work orders for instrumentation and electrical maintenance tasks, ensuring sufficient detail is provided. Collaborate with Reliability and Engineering teams for repair specifications, design changes, and Management of Change (MOC) processes.
  • Instrumentation & Electrical Systems: Manage the maintenance of instrumentation and electrical systems including control valves, sensors, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), transformers, circuit breakers, and other critical electrical equipment.
  • Procurement and Vendor Management: Initiate purchase requisitions for materials and services, obtain multiple quotes and bids as required. Ensure timely procurement of necessary parts and services to avoid delays in maintenance work.
  • Materials and Inventory Management: Manage electrical and instrumentation-related materials and spare parts, maintaining accurate records. Update parts lists, coordinate offsite repairs, and manage inventory to ensure parts are readily available before work is scheduled.
  • Job Plan Library Development: Build and maintain a job plan library for recurring or complex electrical and instrumentation tasks. This ensures efficiency and consistency in the planning of future maintenance activities.
  • Backlog and Scheduling: Review and manage the I&E work order backlog daily, prioritizing critical tasks and ensuring timely completion of scheduled work. Collaborate with the maintenance team to balance workload and reduce backlog effectively.
Preventive Maintenance (PM) Program: Generate and maintain PM schedules for electrical and instrumentation systems. Review PM plans regularly to ensure accuracy and relevance, and update as needed based on input from the Reliability and Engineering teams.
  • System Performance Monitoring: Identify recurring issues with electrical and instrumentation equipment, reporting these to the Reliability Engineering team to support failure analysis and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Team

    Collaboration:

Attend and participate in area meetings as a core member, providing input on I&E maintenance activities, resource allocation, and planning improvements.
  • On-call Support: Be available for weekend or after-hours call-out duties as required to support critical instrumentation and electrical maintenance needs.
Qualifications:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate degree or certification in electrical or instrumentation engineering, electrical planning, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in instrumentation and electrical maintenance planning, preferably in an industrial environment. Experience with PLCs, control systems, and electrical distribution systems is highly desirable.
  • Skills:
  • Proficiency with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) software.
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical and instrumentation systems, components, and maintenance techniques.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams), and technical drawings.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Strong understanding of safety protocols, including lockout/tagout and arc flash safety.
