Job SummaryGulf Coast Industrial is currently seeking a Blaster/Painter. This position must effectively and safely perform coatings application and all associated phases of industrial coatings. This is maintenance work 5/10’s, pay is $22‑26 an hour, in Freeport, TX, NO PER DIEM.
Duties and Responsibilities- Apply coatings to various structures, tanks, piping and miscellaneous surfaces in accordance with customer specifications and manufacturer recommendations.
- Assemble, maintain, repair and clean painting equipment.
- Mix and thin the coatings according to manufacturer recommendations.
- Construct protective enclosures to avoid overspray of customer equipment.
- Assist in loading, unloading and storage of equipment and supplies.
- Perform work in the safest possible manner at all times.
- Immediately correct any unsafe condition.
- Perform onsite QA/QC functions, including paperwork and evaluation of employees.
- Keep the jobsite clean by removing all trash, unused paint materials, etc.
- Cooperate with Gulf Coast Industrial Project Manager and customers in carrying out assigned work.
- Direct the Helper/Laborer in proper work performance and job requirements.
- Highly productive and experienced in multiple crafts with expertise in surface preparation and application of coatings.
- Ability to hold and control 100 psi nozzle pressure and spray to maintain even mileage.
- Knowledge of and experience with epoxy, urethane, polyester, vinylester coatings.
- Familiarity with hazardous waste management and rigging.
- At least 2+ years of experience in industrial blasting/coatings.
- Proficiency in all safety aspects and QA/QC requirements of the craft.
Must be able to travel to job sites if necessary. Duties will be performed almost entirely at one location.
