Responsibilities Apply analytical chemistry and process knowledge to investigate and resolve complex manufacturing, product quality, and laboratory challenges. Perform complex, hands-on laboratory analyses; interpret results; and translate analytical data into clear recommendations for manufacturing, quality, and technical teams. Develop, optimize, validate, document, and implement analytical methods that improve data quality, turnaround time, reliability, and support for plant operations. Troubleshoot, repair, and optimize analytical instruments and systems, partnering with vendors and technical experts when needed to restore performance and prevent recurring issues.
Evaluate incoming analytical support requests, define the technical approach, and prioritize work based on safety, business value, urgency, and alignment with site goals. Lead analytical projects from problem definition through implementation, coordinating small teams, milestones, resources, technical decisions, and communication with stakeholders. Evaluate emerging analytical technologies and lead laboratory trials, method transfer, deployment, and adoption of new capabilities that strengthen manufacturing and quality support.
Serve as the connection between Dow's central analytical experts, manufacturing teams, and Quality Control laboratories to bring specialized knowledge and proven technologies to the site. Monitor analytical system performance and lead continuous improvement efforts that strengthen laboratory productivity, measurement capability, operating discipline, and data integrity. Coach and mentor laboratory colleagues, provide hands‑on technical training, and help build team capability in analytical methods, instrumentation, troubleshooting, and safe laboratory practices.
Represent the laboratory on cross‑functional investigations and improvement initiatives, clearly communicating technical findings, risks, options, and recommendations to scientific and non‑technical audiences. Provide technical input for analytical equipment strategy and capital investments, including business justification, technology selection, commissioning, and implementation support.
