Our products are designed to detect minimal residual disease (MRD) and recurrence at the earliest time points, enable selection of targeted therapies based on ultra-comprehensive genomic profiling, and enhance biomarker strategy for drug development.

Summary:

This is a Senior Accountant position within the Technical Accounting and SEC Reporting team  team has four primary functions: technical accounting, review of revenue contracts, SEC reporting, and equity administration. You will work directly with the Director of Technical Accounting & SEC Reporting on technical accounting projects, including revenue (ASC 606), equity compensation (ASC 718), and leases (ASC 842) accounting. You will administer stock plans at Personalis, which involve stock options, RSUs, and an ESPP plan.

You will prepare public filings, including the 10‑K, quarterly 10‑Qs, and the proxy statement. As needed, you will also help with other ad hoc projects and tasks as the Company grows. This position reports to the Director of Technical Accounting & SEC Reporting and will be located at our headquarters in Fremont, CA. This is a regular, full‑time position.

Days onsite:
Monday and Tuesday Responsibilities:
  • Technical Accounting
    • Work with the business and others in the accounting organization to identify, resolve and document complex accounting issues and transactions. The areas of exposure will be broad including revenue, investments, debt, fair value measurements, leases, equity, and other complex or non‑routine transactions.
    • Lead the evaluation and adoption of accounting standard updates.
    • Prepare accounting memos and supporting files, documenting the Company’s application of accounting guidance to specific transactions.
    • Help in preparing support for and managing the year‑end audit and quarterly reviews with external auditors.
    • Lead training for members of the accounting team as necessary.
    • Assist in the monthly close process.
    • Work with Internal Audit or external service provider to ensure compliance with internal controls. Ensure that the required action plans are defined and implemented in a timely manner to minimize the level of deficiencies.
  • SEC Reporting
    • Prepare the Company’s financial reports on Forms 10‑Q and 10‑K and other SEC filings, including gathering and consolidating information related to required disclosures, preparing various footnotes and other disclosures, including MD&A, coordinating the preparation of backup documentation, and reviewing filings for compliance with GAAP disclosure requirements.
    • Prepare the Consolidated Statement of Cash Flows in accordance with ASC 230.
    • Plan for the filings, such as preparing 10‑Q/K shells, calendars, confirmation emails, process checklists, disclosure checklists, etc.
    • Resolve feedback on 10‑Q/K’s received from various individuals both inside the Company and outside, such as the external auditors.
    • Prepare and review the XBRL tagging for Forms 10‑Q and 10‑K.
    • Assist with GAAP and SEC research as necessary.
    • Assist with the year‑end audit and quarterly reviews process with the external auditors.
    • Prepare the proxy statement.
  • Equity Administration
    • Administer equity transactions as needed, such as new stock awards, stock option exercises, RSU releases, and ESPP purchases.
    • Reconcile equity transactions in Equity Edge with the Company’s HR and transfer agent records.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
  • Minimum 5+ years of total experience in an accounting role with exposure to SEC filings, ideally with a minimum 3 years of experience at a public accounting firm (Big
    4) plus 2+ years industry experience.
  • Experience in US GAAP technical accounting research.
  • Word, Excel, and PowerPoint proficiency required.
