Join Ohlone College to apply for the Part-Time Faculty position teaching 2-D Design/Color. The role includes in-person, online, or hybrid instruction and is open for assignments of day, evening, and weekend courses.
Position SummaryOhlone College seeks a faculty member passionate about teaching and learning, dedicated to student success, and committed to an inclusive, equity‑based classroom environment.
Duty and Responsibilities- Teach 2-D Design/Color courses in accordance with post‑secondary level course outlines.
- Evaluate student work using clear criteria relevant to course content and student learning outcomes, and provide feedback in a timely manner.
- Maintain and submit accurate records according to published deadlines (grades, syllabi, attendance reports).
- Create an equity‑based and welcoming classroom environment.
- Perform duties described in Board policy, the United Faculty of Ohlone contact, the Faculty Handbook, and as assigned at the Fremont Campus and Newark Center, online via the eCampus, and/or other designated locations.
- Master’s in fine arts, art, or art history; OR Bachelor’s in any of the above AND a Master’s in humanities; OR the equivalent.
- Commitment to community college goals of equity, anti‑racism, and quality programs for diverse students and students with disabilities.
- Evidence of responsiveness and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
- Teaching experience at the community college level desired but not required.
- Experience using innovative teaching methods that encourage student engagement and learning.
- Experience creating socially conscious syllabi, equitable classroom materials, and inclusive pedagogical practices.
- Experience addressing equity issues and working with minoritized students; willingness to examine and remediate relational practices to support racially minoritized students.
- Proficiency with computer technology as a teaching tool, including course management systems such as Blackboard, Canvas, etc.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work successfully in a team environment.
