Position DescriptionOhlone College is seeking a pool of qualified applicants for temporary part‑time teaching assignments that may include day, evening, and weekend courses and may be in‑person, online, or hybrid. The pool will remain active for two years; part‑time faculty will be called to interview as needs arise.
Duties & Responsibilities- Teach Journalism in accordance with post‑secondary level course outlines.
- Evaluate student work using clear criteria and provide timely feedback.
- Maintain accurate records and submit them by published deadlines.
- Create an equity‑based and welcoming classroom environment.
- Perform duties described in Board policy, the United Faculty of Ohlone contract, the Faculty Handbook, and assignments as requested.
- Master’s in journalism or communication with a specialization in journalism; OR Bachelor’s in either of the above.
- AND a Master’s in English, history, communication, literature, composition, comparative literature, any social science, business, marketing, graphics, or photography; OR equivalent.
- Commitment to an equity‑based, anti‑racist institution and support for diverse students.
- Evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of diverse student backgrounds.
- Teaching experience at the community college level (desired).
- Experience using innovative teaching methods that encourage student engagement.
- Experience creating socially conscious syllabi and inclusive materials.
- Experience addressing equity issues and working with minoritized students.
- Experience with computer technology as a teaching tool (e.g., Blackboard, Canvas).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work successfully in a team environment.
