Supply Chain Manager, Chemicals – Tesla

What To Expect

We are looking for a motivated Supply Chain Manager to support our development teams and contract manufacturing partners in sourcing chemicals used in our vehicles, powertrain units, Tesla Energy products and/or new programs (Direct Supply Chain parts). This role will report to our Group Supply Chain Manager and in parallel be an active sourcing resource supporting our various groups (engineering, finance, etc.)

within Tesla.

What You’ll Do
  • Owner of RFQ's and contract management – ensure Non‑Disclosure Agreements, General Terms & Conditions, Piece Price Agreements, and other related contracts are negotiated, agreed and appropriately documented before business is initiated.
  • Drive negotiation for piece price and product development to ensure that Tesla’s pricing meets best‑landed‑cost expectations as well as Supplier Industrialization standards of Best‑In‑Class quality.
  • Develop should‑cost models for all the commodities of a given portfolio and have periodic reviews with stakeholders benchmarking Tesla’s position against the market.
  • Participate in design reviews, change control meetings, and other technical discussions with Engineering partners and comfortably communicate both internally and externally to drive decisions from cost and supply reliability perspectives.
  • Manage respective supplier relationships and performance, including but not limited to dispute resolution, supplier scorecards, and periodic business reviews.
  • Build and implement strategies to the external environment and internal goals for the respective parts in a structured Category Plan for the given commodity.
  • Communicate key supply, cost or quality issues with management teams and develop corrective action plans to mitigate identified risks.
What You’ll Bring
  • Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations Management, Engineering, Chemistry or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in supply chain management or commodity management. Experience associated to chemicals, adhesive or coating is a plus.
  • Proficient knowledge of chemical applications in mechanical designs to influence cross‑functional teams and drive sourcing decisions with detailed cost and supply analysis.
  • Capability to drive competitive landed‑cost and sustainability based on the understanding of product chemistry & manufacturing process.
  • Excellent negotiation skill by building out should‑cost models, leveraging competitive options and healthy supplier partnership.
  • Ability to evaluate respective supply dynamic and provide comprehensive supplier scorecard.
  • Travel up to 25% of the time.

Expected Compensation: $101,280 – $189,000 annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits.

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
