The Customer Support Business Group focuses on enabling our customers with premier customer support throughout their lifecycle with Lam. We drive performance, productivity, safety, and quality of customers installed base performance and deliver service and lifecycle solutions for their most critical equipment and processes.

As a Process Engineer at Lam, you will operate on cutting‑edge technology, harnessing atomic precision, material science, and surface engineering to push technical boundaries. Your role involves developing new and advanced process formulations, defining equipment hardware to meet processing requirements, evaluating test data, and coordinating design requirements to ensure compatibility of processing methods. Your expertise and knowledge play a crucial role in our customers’ success, making an impact on the next generation of semiconductor breakthroughs.

In this role, you will directly contribute to CSBG Engineering initiatives.

• Conduct process engineering research, development, and evaluation in support of Lam’s cutting-edge semiconductor equipment and systems.
• Review and enhance processing techniques and methods applied in the manufacture and fabrication of products.
• Develop and sustain new processes and process improvements to reduce production costs and increase yields.
• Compile and analyze test data to establish next steps in process development and determine appropriate limits and variables for process specifications.
• Collaborate internally to plan, collect data, analyze results, and report on customer demos for existing process applications.
• Partner cross-functionally and with customers to understand roadmaps, process flow, inflection points, requirements, and business challenges.
• Contribute to next generation product development and release activities supporting the semiconductor roadmap.
• Provide leadership, clear direction, and guidance to process technicians to support execution activities.
• Work closely with customer to introduce and drive adoption of new technologies at customer sites.

• Responsible for performing professional process engineering research, development, and evaluation in support of the company’s complex semiconductor capital equipment and systems.
• Review processing techniques and methods applied in the manufacture, fabrication and evaluation of products, with involvement from pilot plant to full-scale manufacturing.
• Conceive and plan projects involving definition and selection of new concepts and approaches in the processing or development of new processes.
• Compile and evaluate test data to determine appropriate limits and variables for process specifications.
• Support customer technology managers in the planning, data collection, analysis, and reporting of customer demos to defend existing process applications.
• Drive the adoption of new technology at the customer site and demonstrate new technologies through demos, on-site evaluations, and tool qualifications.
• Work with customer and senior engineers cross-functionally to understand roadmaps, process flow, inflection points, requirements and business issues/challenges.
• Work with suppliers to ensure required parts and supplies are available.
• Contribute to product development and release activities.
• May act as CTM-single point of contact accountable for process related requests.

• Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience; may lead small projects with manageable risks and resource requirements.
• Work with cross-functional teams to get information and results needed.

• Professionally represent the company to the customer using knowledge of product lines and services to keep existing/potential customers informed when new/ additional needs are identified.
• Actively address any potential issues at the customer site and provide alternative solutions, driving implementation of new solutions.

• Ph.D. in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or Physics with 5 years of relevant work experience; or
