What to Expect
Tesla is looking to hire a Sr. Manufacturing Engineer to contribute to the concept development and launch of battery manufacturing equipment for our cutting‑edge Optimus robot. In this role you will take large scale manufacturing systems for new battery products and architectures from the early concept development stage through equipment launch, optimization and handover to local operations teams. Battery development is at the heart of our company, and this is an exciting opportunity to work directly on the central challenges for the all‑new Optimus product architecture while still in its early development stages.

In addition to developing manufacturing equipment and processes, manufacturing engineers work with cross‑functional teams throughout the entire product lifecycle. You will work closely with design engineering, quality and production to take battery design changes and new battery designs from initial concept through prototype development and into full production.
What You'll Do- Lead a high‑volume, automated manufacturing zone, managing vendor relationships and coordinating project scope across production, design, and quality teams
- Function as zone lead for new automated manufacturing equipment, overseeing development, commissioning, and implementation
- Collaborate and manage internal and external equipment integrators from equipment development through handover to local operations teams
- Develop specifications and manage RFQ process for new manufacturing equipment
- Validate and optimize processes from early prototype builds through full volume production
- Troubleshoot process capability and stability through root cause analysis and design of experiments
- Identify root causes of production bottlenecks, equipment malfunctions, and variability, using first principles thinking to drive sustainable solutions
- Use manufacturing data to inform decisions, track progress, and identify areas for improvement in real‑time
- Create detailed documentation for equipment handover to operations team
- Travel domestically/internationally to help support equipment FATs and across Tesla sites as needed (
