Engineering Technician, Power Conversion Systems – Tesla
What To ExpectTesla is seeking a hands‑on, detail‑oriented Engineering Technician to join our dynamic Manufacturing Engineering team. In this role, you will work alongside equipment engineers to support our cutting‑edge production lines, contributing to troubleshooting, continuous improvement, and technical documentation. You’ll play a vital part in ensuring optimal machine performance and process efficiency in one of the most advanced manufacturing environments in the world.
WhatYou’ll Do
- Collaborate closely with manufacturing equipment engineers to support daily production activities and projects.
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical and electrical issues on production line equipment, factory automation systems, and robotics.
- Assist in the technical writing of manufacturing instructions, SOPs, and equipment maintenance specifications, with a focus on recovery and repair procedures.
- Support and execute machine upgrades, equipment trials, and process changes, including documentation and validation activities.
- Use hands‑on technical skills to fabricate components, install and remove equipment hardware, and perform precision repairs and modifications.
- Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance on a wide range of equipment, including high‑speed automation systems and robotics.
- Maintain safe work practices and participate in regular safety and technical training.
- Associate’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Technology, or equivalent experience in a technical field.
- 2+ years of experience in a fast‑paced manufacturing or industrial setting (preferred).
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Proficiency in using hand and power tools, diagnostic equipment, and fabrication tools.
- Experience with industrial automation systems, PLCs, sensors, actuators, and robotic systems is a plus.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics, engineering drawings, and technical documentation.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills; comfortable working across cross‑functional teams.
Expected Compensation: $30.50 – $44.84/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits. Pay may vary based on location, skills, and experience. Details of benefit plans will be provided if you receive an offer.
