MTS, Global Product Safety
This role ensures worldwide safety compliance for semiconductor manufacturing systems, incorporating product design reviews, risk assessments, and global regulatory alignment. The engineer works closely with cross-functional teams across R&D, QA, certifications, and field support.
Core Responsibilities- Safety Compliance & Standards
- Perform pre-audit design reviews against international safety standards (e.g., SEMI S2/S8, IEC 60204, CE, UL, NFPA 79)
- Interpret evolving global safety requirements and translate them into actionable engineering criteria
- Hazard & Risk Management
- Lead hazard analysis and risk assessments (e.g., FMEA, HAZOP) for new tool designs and modifications.
- Support post-incident investigations and develop mitigation plans.
- Certification & Testing Coordination
- Manage interface with external certification bodies (e.g., TÜV, UL, CSA) during audits and testing.
- Define and oversee product safety/EMC tests (e.g., electrical safety checks, fault simulations).
- Design Support & Collaboration
- Integrate safety features early with design/R&D teams, reviewing schematics and electrical/mechanical layouts.
- Maintain safety documentation: technical files, constructional data, safety manuals.
- Global Safety Strategy Implementation
- Deploy global safety initiatives and guidelines across regions.
- Act as the safety contact for customer issues and field escalation.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial Safety, or related discipline.
- 6–9 years of product safety experience in semiconductor equipment, industrial machinery, or high-tech manufacturing.
- Proficiency with global safety standards: SEMI S2/S8, IEC 60204, UL, CE, NFPA 79, ISO, etc.
- Skilled in risk assessment tools and methodologies (FMEA, HAZOP).
- Experience interfacing with third-party auditors and certification agencies.
- Excellent communication for cross-functional and global interactions.
