Job Description

Tax Advisor, CPA or EA

Location: Office
Employment Type: Full-Time (January–December)

At Potentia
, we believe in a holistic approach to financial planning, investment management, and tax strategy. Five years ago, we expanded our mission by integrating tax preparation services directly into our firm, allowing us to deliver truly comprehensive client care. Today our strong in‑house tax team has successfully navigated two acquisitions, refined our systems, and adopted powerful, cutting‑edge software.

We are seeking an experienced CPA or EA who shares our vision for delivering elevated client experiences through strategic planning and preparation. The ideal candidate one who can quickly build relationships with clients, adopt operational and technology, as well as offer deep technical guidance across complex tax matters for individuals, businesses, and trusts.

We offer a collaborative and dynamic work environment, competitive compensation, excellent benefits, and a flexible schedule within a professional office setting. If you are ready to build something extraordinary with us, we would love to connect with you.

About Us

Potentia is a team of financial professionals dedicated to providing comprehensive financial planning, investment management, and tax services. Our tax team works closely with our wealth management professionals and independently to deliver expert‑level strategies that support the full financial picture for our clients.

Potentia Tax currently serves approximately 500 households with varying levels of complexity. Some clients work exclusively with our tax team; others are served across tax, wealth management, and trust services. Our elevated service model and deeply collaborative culture set us apart in the industry.

Who We Are Looking For

We serve a sophisticated client base, including:

Because of this complexity, we are seeking a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with advanced technical expertise.

  • Personable and professional communicator with a strong ability to build rapport, foster trust, and connect with clients and team members.
  • Overseeing complex client engagements
  • Mentoring tax professionals
  • Collaborating closely with wealth and trust advisors

The ideal candidate:

  • Excels in both written and verbal communication, with the ability to simplify complex tax matters.
  • Has experience working with Lacerte, Practice CS, and Sure Prep
  • Demonstrates deep expertise in high‑net‑worth, business, and fiduciary tax planning.
  • Understands fiduciary taxation and (ideally) estate and gift planning.
  • Can navigate sophisticated business structures, including private equity and multi‑entity arrangements.
  • Has working knowledge of international tax reporting requirements (FBAR, FATCA).
  • Is a strong, forward‑thinking leader who can design and improve tax processes.
  • Manages complex client engagements.
  • Shows initiative, ownership, proactiveness, and strong operational judgment.
  • Can wear multiple hats—technical, advisory, leadership, and operational.
  • Manages multiple priorities and tight deadlines with confidence.
  • Is committed to training, knowledge‑sharing, and team development.
  • Responds to challenges with resilience and a solution‑oriented mindset.
Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver expert tax guidance and planning for high‑net‑worth individuals, businesses, and trusts.
