Overview
We are seeking dedicated and knowledgeable Part Time Research Faculty members to join our academic team. The ideal candidates will possess a strong background in their respective fields and demonstrate a passion for teaching and mentoring high school students in an academic research environment. This role involves delivering high-quality research-based mentoring, engaging students in the learning process, and contributing to curriculum development.
The Part Time Faculty will work collaboratively with Full Time faculty and staff to ensure a positive educational experience for all students.

About ASDRPASDRP is a nonprofit research organization dedicated to providing students with access to authentic, high-impact research experiences across the sciences. Through faculty- mentored projects, ASDRP supports original research that leads to peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations, and real-world impact, with a particular emphasis on mentoring motivated high school and undergraduate students.
Position OverviewASDRP seeks a Part-Time Research Faculty member in Public Health and/or Epidemiology to lead and develop student-centered research projects addressing population health, disease surveillance, health disparities, and related areas. The faculty member will be responsible for designing rigorous, publication-quality research while mentoring students through all stages of the research process.
Key Responsibilities- Conceive, design, and lead original research projects in public health and/or epidemiology suitable for student participation
- Mentor high school students in study design, data collection, statistical analysis, and scientific writing
- Oversee the ethical conduct of research, including IRB protocols where applicable
- Guide students in the preparation of manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals and abstracts for conferences
- Conduct regular research meetings, provide feedback on student work, and foster a collaborative research environment
- Collaborate with ASDRP faculty across disciplines, including biostatistics, data science, and biomedical research
- Contribute to the growth of ASDRP’s public health research portfolio and help establish best practices for student-led epidemiologic research
- PhD, DrPH, MD, MPH, or equivalent terminal degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, or a closely related field
- Demonstrated record of research productivity (e.g., peer-reviewed publications)
- Strong background in epidemiologic methods and/or public health data analysis
- Experience mentoring students or trainees in a research setting
- Commitment to ASDRP’s educational mission and to mentoring students from diverse backgrounds
- Ability to work effectively in a part-time, flexible, and primarily remote environment
- Experience working with large public health datasets (e.g., CDC, NHANES, BRFSS, or similar)
- Familiarity with causal inference, longitudinal analysis, or spatial epidemiology
- Prior experience guiding student-led publications or conference submissions
- Interest in health equity, global health, or translational public health research
- Expected commitment of approximately 5–10 hours per week (flexible)
- Compensation commensurate with experience and scope of responsibilities
- Faculty appointment with authorship opportunities on resulting publications
