The Compensation & Benefits Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing competitive compensation and benefits programs that attract, retain, and motivate employees. This role ensures all programs are compliant, cost-effective, and aligned with business objectives. The manager partners closely with HR leadership, finance, and key stakeholders to design a total rewards strategy that supports workforce needs and promotes operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and administer compensation programs, salary structures, pay policies, and job evaluation processes.
- Lead annual compensation cycles, including merit reviews, market adjustments, and bonus planning.
- Conduct market benchmarking, pay equity analysis, and competitive compensation assessments.
- Maintain up-to-date job descriptions and ensure internal consistency and external competitiveness.
- Advise leadership on compensation decisions, ensuring alignment with company philosophy and budget.
- Manage employee benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, retirement plans, and wellness initiatives.
- Evaluate vendors, negotiate renewals, and optimize plan designs to balance cost and employee value.
- Oversee open enrollment preparation, communication, and system updates.
- Ensure benefit offerings comply with federal and state regulations (ACA, ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, etc.).
- Support development of long-term total rewards strategy to enhance employee engagement and retention.
- Monitor compensation and benefits trends and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Ensure all compensation and benefit programs follow legal, regulatory, and audit requirements.
- Prepare reports and analytics for leadership and compliance audits.
- Ensure accuracy of compensation and benefit data in HRIS systems.
- Collaborate with payroll to resolve issues related to pay and benefit deductions.
- Lead process improvements related to total rewards administration and employee experience.
- Serve as subject matter expert for compensation and benefit inquiries.
- Provide clear communication materials for employees and managers on plan details and policies.
- Train HR team members and managers on compensation guidelines and benefit processes.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in compensation, benefits, or total rewards roles.
- Strong knowledge of compensation strategies, job analysis, and benefits administration.
- Familiarity with federal and state labor regulations and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency with HRIS systems and advanced Excel skills.
- Strong analytical, communication, and project management abilities.
- Experience in manufacturing or high-tech industries.
