Systems Engineer – Large‑Scale Data Collections

Contract:
6 months
Pay: $45–50/hr + Benefits
Onsite Role
We're looking for a hands‑on Systems Engineer to manage end‑to‑end operations for large‑scale data collection efforts. In this role, you'll set up and maintain capture stations, troubleshoot technical issues, and coordinate across multiple teams to ensure high throughput and exceptional data quality. This is an onsite position in Fremont supporting multi‑station collections on a fast‑moving schedule.
What You’ll Do- Set Up & Maintain Capture Stations:
- Install and configure workstations, cameras, sensors, headsets, and networking equipment.
- Execute calibration workflows and ensure devices are healthy before each session.
- Track station readiness, spares, and preventive maintenance to minimize downtime.
- Operational Ownership:
- Run daily readiness checks and keep sessions on schedule.
- Maintain clear logs of incidents, root causes, and fixes; drive issue resolution.
- Technical Troubleshooting:
- Diagnose and resolve streaming, driver, and configuration issues across camera/sensing pipelines.
- Partner with engineers to validate build changes and manage updates.
- Cross‑Functional Coordination:
- Work with program managers, engineers, facilities, vendors, and moderators to remove friction and hit throughput targets.
- Train moderators and communicate protocol changes effectively.
- Logistics & Execution:
- Plan and track shipments, inventory, and consumables to avoid operational blocks.
- Identify pain points and implement process improvements to protect schedule and data quality.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with cameras and sensing devices (e.g., motion capture, VFX/game studios).
- Experience with NeRF (nice to have).
- Technical proficiency in Windows/Linux, networking, device provisioning, and hardware setup.
- Scripting experience (Python, Bash).
- Strong logistics and operations background with ability to manage multi‑station setups.
- Excellent written/verbal communication and cross‑functional coordination skills.
