We are seeking an experienced Professional Liability Claims Examiner III to manage complex California professional liability claims, including litigated matters.
This is specifically a Professional Liability/E&O claims position
, rather than a traditional General Liability role. The successful candidate will have experience evaluating claims involving professional errors, omissions, standard-of-care issues, economic losses, contracts, and professional services
.
The position may be primarily remote; however, candidates must reside in or very near San Diego and be available to attend onsite client meetings and file reviews.
Key ResponsibilitiesInvestigate, evaluate, negotiate, and resolve complex Professional Liability claims
.
Review policies and endorsements and make appropriate coverage determinations
.
Manage complex and litigated claims through resolution.
Work closely with clients, defense counsel, investigators, and other outside service providers.
Evaluate liability, damages, exposure, and potential economic losses.
Establish and continually evaluate reserves and settlement strategies
.
Prepare detailed loss reports analyzing liability and damages.
Identify potential subrogation and risk-transfer opportunities
.
Maintain accurate claim diaries, correspondence, reports, and file documentation.
Communicate recommendations regarding exposure, reserves, and settlements to clients.
Independently manage complex caseloads while providing excellent client service.
Qualifications5+ years of Professional Liability claims handling experience required.
Active California RESIDENT Adjuster’s License required – non-resident license will not qualify.
Must reside in San Diego or the immediate surrounding area

Experience handling complex and litigated Professional Liability claims
.
Strong knowledge of coverage analysis, claims investigation, litigation, negotiation, and case valuation.
Excellent analytical, written, verbal, organizational, and client-service skills.
High school diploma/GED required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
AIC/CPCU or related industry designation preferred.
