The Project Manager is part of the Global Workplace Solutions team that has a pivotal role in delivering advanced technology lab and manufacturing space for product development and expansion. You will be at the forefront of project initiation through delivery, overseeing the successful construction completion on projects in excess of $100M to ensure budget and schedule adherence. You will create innovative and value-engineered solutions for construction challenges.
WhatYou’ll Do
- Support the expansion of strategic capital projects both domestically and internationally by engaging in key elements surrounding technical lab construction and driving local project performance to corporate standards. This includes collaborating with relevant stakeholders, meeting regulatory compliance, supplier sourcing, maintaining deadlines, and communicating status.
- Drive all aspects of construction projects: scope, schedule, spend forecasts, proposal requests, procurement, quality, communications, permits, change orders, and close-out for large, advanced technology projects. Coordinate with global GWS functional SMEs. Promote a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Select and evaluate third-party contractors in developing design and performance criteria, layouts, and schematic drawings, including safety oversight and environmental design specifications. Ensure best cost and performance. Control change orders, schedules, budget, and project handover. Work with procurement and legal teams to maximize value and minimize risk.
- Review and estimate design and construction costs surrounding all equipment, installation, and materials.
- Build and execute against programming and construction documents to ensure successful delivery of Lam business requirements, economy of operations, equipment efficiencies, and regulatory compliance. Validate weekly site progress and lead meetings to monitor conformance to established drawings, specifications, and schedules. Help resolve on-site issues and ensure timely decision-making.
- Create solutions that will improve standard business processes and support critical business strategies. Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to continuously improve processes.
- BS degree in related discipline, Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management with a minimum of 12 years of related experience, or 8 years and a Master's degree, or a Ph.D. with 5 years experience.
- 10+ years of experience in construction project planning and management leading projects over $100M.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to exchange information with senior management, service providers, peers, and contractors.
- Frequent domestic and international travel required.
- Ability to work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam location.
- Experience working with procurement teams to develop qualified bidder lists and leading competitive sourcing for construction projects.
- Demonstrated proficiency in problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
- Proficiency in basic software tools (MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Construction project management background in large projects and lab spaces with highly technical MEP designs and safety requirements.
- Understands all aspects and phases of the construction management process.
- Experience in high-tech, fast-paced environment; focused on customer service. Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings.
- Experience in project cost controls and ability to present monthly status reports and revised capital forecasts to upper management.
- Ability to summarize key project metrics and status and then present to upper management.
- Understanding of legal concepts and commercial terms and conditions of traditional construction contracting instruments.
- Strong culture of ethics and safety.
- Values transparency and internal and cross-functional teamwork to solve problems.
