About Indium Phosphide (InP) Technology The world’s communications infrastructure depends on semiconductor lasers, and particularly those based on indium phosphidetechnology. Indium phosphide lasers are engineered to emit at wavelengths that are optimal for long-distance transmission through fiber optics. In short, they enable the optical networks that form the global internet. Coherent’s broad portfolio of InP components includes application-specific Fabry‑Pérot lasers, directly modulated lasers (DMLs), and tunable lasers.

It also includes photodiodes for high-speed receivers and power monitoring. In 2022, we introduced 200 Gbps indium phosphide electro‑absorption modulated lasers (EMLs) for high-speed datacenter transceivers. This design provides our customers with the most advanced, robust, and cost‑competitive laser devices for their 800G and next‑gen 1.6T datacom transceiver designs. Our world‑class and highly reliable InP technology platform is one of the very few in the industry that has been proven, with more than one hundred million lasers in the field deployed over the last decades.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Maintain fab equipment on the A‑shift – Frontend Day shift 5AM to 5PM Sunday – Tuesday (every other Wednesday).
• Perform repairs for all equipment in the thin films/Etch/lapping and metals area.
• Perform PM’s on assigned equipment in your area.
• Coordinate with production on down equipment priorities.
• Familiar with operations of various metrology tools and measurements.

Education & Experience

• 10+ years of fab experience with strong vacuum knowledge.
• Knowledge of Evaporators, ICP and RIE Etchers, PECVD, Lapping, Wafer Saws, Solvent benches, microscopes.
• Knowledge with Metrology equipment.

Skills

• Strong vacuum knowledge and ability to use a leak detector.
• Ability to read electrical schematics.
• Mechanical skills.
• Attention to detail.
• Good at working with small parts.
• Experience with semi‑automated and automated processing tools.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Experience in wafer‑level or die‑level handling.
• Meticulous and thorough; diligent with data entry and follow‑workflow.
• Ability to speak, read, write, and comprehend English required.
• Integrity and self‑motivated.
• Ability to work in fast‑paced team and independent setting all within a clean room.
• Knowledge of machining, construction, electrical useful.

Working Conditions

• 12‑hour shift: 5AM to 5PM the A‑shift – Frontend Day shift 5AM to 5PM Sunday – Tuesday (every other Wednesday).
• Must be able to function in a fast‑paced environment, carrying out multiple projects at a time.
• Work in tight spaces with good dexterity.
• Candidate to work on‑site in a cleanroom environment where strict cleanliness rules will be enforced.

Physical Requirements

• Able to stand for duration of shift when needed.
• Able to work in tight spaces when needed.
• Able work using a respirator at times.

Safety Requirements
