Position: Nurse Practitioner Wound Care - part time 0.6FTE
### Description|  |  || --- | --- || |  | | --- | | Salary Range: $84.62 - $126.93    The Wound Care Registered Nurse Practitioner Nurse (RNP) is a position assigned to Ambulatory Care Services. The nurse practitioner consults with physicians, managers, and staff for the care management of wound/ostomy patients. This role shall also assist with the Organization’s Wound/Ostomy Program implementation, relating to the treatment and prevention of wound/ostomy care.

As directed by the supervising MD, the NP is responsive to the needs of patients and employees and meet the requirements of the Joint Commission, Title 22, OSHA, and all other regulatory organizations.  The incumbent is a wound and ostomy care expert and is an accessible Nurse Leader who reports directly to the Director of Wound Care at the Washington Center for Wound Healing and Hyperbarics Medicine.

** The major duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:*
* · Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates interdisciplinary plans of care for all referred patients with wound/ostomy/continence issues.  
· Performs specialized procedures, such removal of devitalized tissue, removal of sutures and other procedures as per  specialty training, referring complex cases to appropriate treating specialty.  
· Writes wound care dressing orders and supplies for inpatients and outpatients.  
· Refers patient to necessary outpatient clinics for continued care  in addition to performing the essential functions listed below, may also be assigned other duties as required. |   1.
Preforms bedside wound/ostomy patient/family education.  2.
Rounding and care of patients through performance of clinical duties and the development of treatment plans to facilitate the continuum of care.  3.
Assists with diagnosis, treatment, and management of acute and chronic wounds and ostomy management.  4.
Orders, performs and interprets laboratory and radiology test with scope of professional practice  5.
Prescribes medications including controlled substances to the extent delegated and licensed.  6.
Orders treatments and durable medical equipment as indicated.  7.
Performs other therapeutic or corrective measures as indicated, including bedside debridement of inpatient, outpatient and urgent care issues.  8.
Consults with physician or designees as needed, informs primary physician of services provided and collaborates with other physicians as needed.  9.
Assists in all facets of care coordination for wound/ostomy referrals.  10.  Prepares and maintains accurate patient records, charts and documents to support sound medical practice and reimbursement for services provided.  11.  Complies with applicable laws and regulations with respect to collaborative agreements.  12.  Initiates reimbursement for services rendered.  13.  Provides training and continuing education to staff.  14.  Assists in development of clinical practice guidelines/standards in support of quality wound/ostomy care.  

15.  Adheres to the practice of confidentiality regarding patients, families, staff and the organization.  16.  Assists in the development of clinical practice guidelines/standards in support of quality wound/ostomy management. |1.
Current State RN and NP license to practice nursing in California required.
2.
Current State Furnishing license to prescribed medication in California required.
3.
MSN degree required from an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program.
4.
Holds current certification for wound care from the WOCN certifying body. Certification in area of specialty required.
5.
Documentation of at least three years of experience and expertise in the nursing specialty within the past five years.
6.
Demonstrates excellent teaching, communication and writing abilities.
7.
AHA BLS required, ACLS preferred.
