General Purpose

This position provides a visible presence at store entrances and exits, mitigating theft and fraud and maintaining a safe and secure environment for associates and customers. The Specialist greets all customers in a prominent, courteous manner, deters opportunities for theft by demonstrating a “command” presence in a company‑issued vest, and monitors Code 50 package inspection policy. The Specialist walks the sales floor to identify and address potential theft indicators, as directed by store leadership, and partners with store leadership to ensure compliance with loss prevention directives and minimize operational shortage.

Functions Maintaining Safe & Secure Environment
  • Understanding that safety is the number one priority and practicing safe behaviors in everything they do.
  • Providing a visible “command” presence, including prominent greetings and eye contact.
  • Removing clutter and ensuring safe, clear egress to emergency exits.
Developing Great Teams & Partnerships
  • Providing great customer service by prominently greeting customers, making eye contact, smiling, and answering questions in a friendly manner.
  • Treating all customers and associates with respect.
  • Demonstrating courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism at all times and recognizing associates.
  • Regular involvement with internal and external partners, including conference calls, scheduled district meetings, and training.
  • Performing other duties as assigned to support loss prevention initiatives.
Personal and Store Brand
  • Representing and supporting the company brand at all times.
  • Maintaining a professional appearance in accordance with the company dress code.
Mitigating Theft & Fraud
  • Monitoring entrances and exits as well as the sales floor for potential theft by identifying suspicious behavior.
  • Gathering theft indicators and using internal or external intelligence to influence shortage trends.
  • Communicating effectively with store and loss prevention leadership.
  • Adhering to company policy for external theft response.
  • Executing all company best practices and maximizing productivity by minimizing steps and touches while working.
Minimizing Operational Shortage
  • Increasing store awareness of effective processes to minimize operational shortage and training associates on shortage reduction initiatives.
  • Observing and validating proper checkout procedures for customers and associates.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required
  • High school education or equivalent required; associate’s degree preferred.
  • One year retail supervisor experience or similar training preferred.
  • One year loss prevention/security training preferred.
  • Active security guard license preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with the store team.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
