As Sales Manager – for industrial and automation, you will be the driving force behind industrial automation growth strategy in key markets. You’ll be trusted to:
- Identify and engage new top‑tier customer segments, establishing strong relationships at both commercial and engineering levels.
- Operate as the primary point of contact for assigned accounts, from daily operations to executive discussions, penetrating top‑tier target customers by cold calling while also growing other existing/assigned account revenue. Spend at least 50% of time cold calling new prospects.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of customer product roadmaps to uncover future opportunities.
- Partner cross‑functionally with product management to promote new industrial automation technologies and applications.
- Secure sales revenue growth (minimum 5% year-over-year) while developing new opportunities in target industries.
- Ensure on-time delivery of customer solutions while meeting business objectives.
- Provide accurate forecasts and CRM reporting to support business planning.
This is a frontline growth role—ideal for someone who thrives in new business development, long-term strategic selling, and relationship building across multiple industries.
Community InformationThis role offers flexibility across U.S. operations, with frequent customer travel (~50%). You’ll collaborate with a global organization while supporting industrial customers in HVACR, food & beverage, logistics, and other fast‑growing markets.
Background Profile- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required; BSEE strongly preferred.
- Minimum 5+ years selling industrial automation components (VFD, PLC, HMI, motors, servo systems).
- Experience with Trane, SPX, Dedert Corp., or Swenson Technology highly preferred. Direct calling sales experience far more important than go-through sales rep experience.
- Strong ability to develop and execute long-term account strategies.
- Experience building high-level customer relationships and uncovering decision makers.
- Commercial understanding of the industrial automation portfolio.
- Strong initiative, results orientation, and ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills across multiple levels.
- Proficiency with MS Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word).
- Willingness to travel ~50% (domestic and international).
- Commercial acumen and industry knowledge (market trends, demographics, competition).
- Ability to create strategic sales plans and deliver results.
- Effective under pressure while maintaining deadlines.
