Assistant Fitness Manager – Responsible for overseeing the Personal Training team, personally conducting introductory workouts with new members, and facilitating their initiation into our gym’s fitness programs. Reporting to the General Manager, this role drives personal training sales, team performance, and member relationships. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong leadership, exceptional interpersonal skills, a passion for fitness, and a history of measurable results.
PositionPurpose
Build and lead a cohesive Personal Training (PT) team, ensuring a healthy pipeline of clients and delivering an exceptional fitness experience to members and clients.
Responsibilities- Hire, train, schedule, and supervise Personal Trainers.
- Manage the payroll process for personal trainers to ensure timely payment.
- Lead the team and drive sales initiatives, meeting daily targets and ensuring goals are met during weekends or absence of the General Manager.
- Achieve month‑over‑month sales targets, driving membership growth and revenue generation for new personal training agreements, client retention, and overall revenue.
- Communicate goals, expectations, and procedures to staff and other department leaders, ensuring clarity of roles.
- Ensure all fitness staff hold appropriate certifications such as CPR, First Aid, and personal trainer certifications.
- Provide constructive feedback to personal trainers on performance.
- Deliver high‑quality customer service, addressing member concerns, managing inquiries, and resolving issues promptly.
- Conduct personalized welcome workouts for new members to evaluate fitness needs and goals.
- Guide new members through their initial club experience, fostering a supportive environment that promotes sales, retention, and engagement.
- Supervise maintenance and cleanliness of the facility, including equipment, locker rooms, and common areas.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, maintain certifications, and implement safety protocols.
- 2 years of management experience; fitness/personal training management a plus.
- 2–3 years of customer service experience.
- 1 year of sales experience.
- 1 year of supervisory experience.
- Personal training sales experience highly preferred.
- Prior experience or strong interest in the fitness industry.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Excellent relationship building and influencing skills at all levels.
- Strong detail orientation, systematic and thorough approach to problem solving, good time management and organizational skills.
- Excellent MS Office skills.

- Must be available to work nights and weekends.
- Must pass a background check.
- Must have a valid Personal Training certification.
- CPR certification required within 30 days of hire.
- Ability to work in a gym setting; move about club floors, rooms, and communicate with employees, members, and the public.
- Ability to routinely bend and lift objects >40 lbs.
- Ability to access and operate the company computer system, including preparing documents, entering data, and reading reports.
