Methodist Fremont Health Behavioral Medicine, 2560 North Heathy Way, Fremont NE.
Work Schedule:
Monday‑Friday 8 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
- Essential Job Functions
- Comply with Methodist Fremont Health safety policies and regulatory requirements (OSHA, JCAHO, CLIA, etc.).
- Perform job duties in a manner consistent with organization and departmental safety policies.
- Complete departmental safety requirements.
- Outpatient Treatment and Therapeutic Services
- Provide comprehensive evaluations of patients according to psychiatric guidelines – mental health status evaluations, formulations, diagnoses, and detailed treatment plans.
- Obtain history of present illness and past history; review patient history; interview patients to gain insight and determine need for long‑term treatment.
- Provide crisis intervention and referral for psychiatric hospitalization.
- Provide individual, group, family, and pharmacologic therapeutic interventions as necessary.
- Make referrals for further diagnostic medical testing as needed.
- Inpatient Treatment and Care Coordination
- Provide consultations on psychiatric disease for emergency department patients and inpatients.
- Work as a team member with psychiatrists, social workers, and other professionals to coordinate evaluations, treatment planning, and referrals.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings.
- Coordinate with other professionals and agencies to assure quality care.
- Documentation
- Maintain documentation, records, and reports in accordance with prevailing rules, regulations, and standards.
- Complete patient charge sheets or billing daily.
- Communication and Education
- Provide education for medical staff, hospital, and clinic personnel.
- Represent MFH with community agencies and other organizations in the market area.
- Communicate legislative and policy‑making activities.
- Self‑Development
- Complete annual education and competencies to maintain licensure and competency.
- Performance Improvement
- Dedicate overall work performance to meeting and exceeding performance improvement standards.
- Participate in department performance improvement program and projects.
- Education
- Master’s degree, post‑master’s certificate, or doctoral degree with preparation as an Advanced Practice Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse.
- Successful completion of an approved advanced practice registered nurse program.
- License/Certifications
- Current valid RN license or compact multistate license, or a temporary permit while awaiting licensure.
- Nurse Practitioner (APRN.NP.NE or ARNP.IA) required.
- Prescriptive authority in Nebraska and DEA Controlled Substance Registration Certification (CSRC).
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) preferred.
- Certification by a national certifying body as a psychiatric nurse practitioner (PMHNP.BC through ANCC) preferred.
- Experience
- Minimum of two years experience in healthcare with an interest in behavioral health.
- Experience as a psychiatric nurse practitioner preferred.
- Skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate with health professionals of various disciplines.
- Skill in diagnosing and treating a variety of diseases in psychiatry practice.
- Ability to complete a clear and comprehensive diagnostic and psychiatric assessment and concise notes for patient records.
- Basic computer skills.
- Public speaking and volunteerism.
