OverviewThe EHS Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive Environmental, Health, and Safety programs that ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and corporate standards. This role promotes a proactive safety culture, integrates EHS initiatives with business objectives, and drives sustainability efforts. The position typically supports a facility of 150–350 employees with moderate environmental and safety complexity.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and facilitate the site’s EHS Committee and serve as a member of the plant Leadership Team.
- Drive the implementation, maintenance, and continual improvement of the company’s EHS Management System.
- Identify and apply best practices to strengthen safety performance and environmental stewardship.
- Develop and execute EHS strategic plans, including goal setting, performance reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Partner with leadership, supervisors, and employees to promote engagement and accountability in EHS programs.
- Conduct and coordinate EHS audits, inspections, and assessments to ensure compliance with regulatory and corporate standards.
- Prepare and present EHS performance reports, metrics, and progress updates to facility and corporate leadership.
- Ensure all environmental and safety requirements—such as permits, licenses, and legal obligations—are properly understood and managed.
- Maintain records and documentation to support regulatory reporting, compliance verification, and internal initiatives.
- Collaborate with engineering and operations to design and implement equipment, processes, or systems that reduce risk and environmental impact.
- Evaluate new materials and processes for safety and compliance before implementation.
- Lead and coordinate incident investigations, ensuring timely reporting, root cause analysis, and corrective action closure.
- Deliver effective EHS training programs for employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Lead the development and annual review of EHS policies, procedures, and responsibilities.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and shared responsibility for EHS performance across all levels of the organization.
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Health, and Safety, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant manufacturing experience, including direct involvement in EHS programs.
- Proven track record in process improvement, problem-solving, and root cause analysis.
- Effective communication, training, and presentation skills.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal abilities to manage cross‑functional initiatives.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; ability to adapt to other software systems.
- Professional certifications such as CSP, CIH, or CHMM are preferred.
- A proactive leader who can influence and inspire a strong safety culture.
- Hands‑on experience in driving EHS performance improvement.
- Ability to partner effectively with diverse teams and departments.
- Commitment to regulatory excellence and operational safety.
