Position Summary
The Director of Nursing (DON) is responsible for overseeing and directing all nursing operations within the facility, ensuring high-quality patient care and compliance with regulatory standards. The DON provides leadership to the nursing team, develops policies, and collaborates with other healthcare professionals to enhance patient outcomes.
Required Qualifications- Education: bachelor’s or master’s degree in nursing (BSN/MSN) required.
- Licensure: Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio.
- Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of nursing experience, with at least 2+ years in a leadership role.
- Skills: Strong leadership, problem‑solving, and communication skills. Proficiency in healthcare regulations and compliance.
- Additional
Certifications:
BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications may be required.
- Leadership & Management:
- Supervise, mentor, and provide guidance to nursing staff, including RNs, LPNs, and CNAs.
- Develop and implement nursing policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Ensure staffing levels meet the needs of patients and regulatory requirements.
- Patient Care & Quality Assurance:
- Monitor and evaluate the quality of nursing care provided to patients.
- Implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with state, federal, and accrediting agency regulations.
- Training & Development:
- Organize ongoing training programs and continuing education for nursing staff.
- Ensure staff is up to date with certifications, competencies, and best practices.
- Budgeting & Resource Management:
- Develop and manage the nursing department’s budget.
- Ensure the efficient use of medical supplies and resources.
- Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with physicians, administrators, and other departments to ensure cohesive patient care.
- Serve as a liaison between nursing staff, patients, and families, addressing concerns and ensuring satisfaction.
- May require long hours and on‑call availability.
- Combination of office and clinical environment.
