Job Overview

Locate Technicians are responsible for accurately locating underground facilities including telephone communication lines, electric power lines, cable television lines, gas lines, fiber optic lines, water lines, and sewer lines. This position is a key component to ensure that the area is complying with client and state requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Observe, locate, mark and document underground and exposed utility locations.
  • Work independently or in a team environment under assigned supervisor.
  • Perform locates and emergency/on-call locates during regular, overtime and holiday hours as necessary.
  • Interpret job order tickets, blueprints and maps to efficiently route and perform duties.
  • Communicate with customers, co-employees and third parties to ensure a damage free environment.
  • Use a transmitter and hook up to buried facility, pedestal etc.
  • Work in and walk over all types of terrain in and around construction zones and residential, commercial, industrial and rural areas in all types of weather conditions.
Equipment & Tools
  • Company vehicle, laptop, smartphone and personal protective equipment.
  • Transmitter, receiver and other locating equipment.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • State issued driver's license.
  • Ability to problem solve and interpret multiple types of prints.
  • Ability to lift over 50 lbs and walk/stand for multiple hours a day.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Pass a background screening (no violations within the last 5 years).
  • Pass a DOT drug test.
Requirements

In order to obtain employment with Grid Hawk LLC, a candidate must complete a background check and must have no violations within the last 5 years. Candidates must also take and pass a DOT drug test.
