About the RoleWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Estimator to lead our Estimating Department. Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President
, you will oversee all aspects of estimating, budgeting, and subcontractor relations, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of bids and project budgets.
- Lead, train, and manage a team of Estimators and Quantity Surveyors.
- Develop and execute estimating strategies, ensuring competitive and accurate project bids.
- Maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and industry partners.
- Review legal and financial aspects of RFPs and bid documents, escalating concerns when necessary.
- Oversee bid‑day activities, including securing bid documents, bonds, and insurance requirements.
- Collaborate with project acquisition teams to align estimates with company objectives.
- Stay updated on construction trends, costs, and best practices to enhance department efficiency.
- 10+ years of experience in construction estimating, with a proven track record in leadership.
- Extensive knowledge of construction materials, labor costs, and project management.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail in preparing accurate estimates.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills for subcontractor and client interactions.
- Proficiency in estimating software and cost coding structures.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment while meeting tight deadlines.
- Salary: $125,000 – $155,000/year, plus discretionary bonuses.
- Profit Sharing:
Through John Hancock with discretionary matching (4% of total annual).
