Overview
We are recruiting for a Registered Dental Assistant level 2 to join one of our state of the art facilities.
The Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) 2 is to provide overall assistance to the dental provider and patients. Unless specifically so provided by regulation, the prohibitions contained in section 1085 of these regulations apply to registered dental assistants. The Registered Dental Assistant 2 is to perform all functions which may be performed by a dental assistant and registered dental assistant
1. Under general supervision of a dentist, The RDA 2 assists with oral surgery and other procedures. Prepares and arranges needed tools and instruments for scheduled procedures. Hands necessary tools and equipment and provides assistance during treatment. Charts findings, changes barriers, and sterilizes equipment. The RDA 2 must be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the dental field and performs a variety of tasks.
The RDA 2 will assist in ensuring smooth patient flow. In addition, the RDA 2 takes lead on ordering of dental department supplies and maintenance of dental equipment in addition to oversight of all infection control and OSHA logs and binders at the health center. The RDA 2 will also be responsible for overseeing and taking lead of the RDA column and will assist the provider with completing all treatment within their scope.
Summary of Responsibilities:
This position will work closely with the Dental Assistant Supervisor. This position will assist with dental department oversight at their specific site in collaboration with the Dental Assistant Supervisor.
This position will:
- Provide support for the dental department and ensure proper communication is given to the Dental Assistant Supervisor.
- Proactively manage provider appointment schedules to ensure provider templates are correctly applied and ensures provider appointments are scheduled appropriately.
- Work alongside the Dental Assistant Supervisor to provide appropriate training and staff development as needed at their assigned health center.
- Require that RDA and DA functions be performed daily.
- Perform and coordinate site audits/visits (formal and informal) between clinical and operations to ensure readiness for site audits/visits (OSHA, Delta Dental etc.).
- Provide prompt dental support; promote a smooth patient flow; collect and record data accurately; maintain order of the back office, equipment, and supplies.
- Work flexible or extended hours where necessary.
- Participate in health center in-services and meetings, listening and respecting others' ideas.

PERFORMANCE AREA 1:
- Review provider schedules and productivity measures and guide the dental team to achieve compliance with UHC directives.
- Work closely with the dentist and dental staff to ensure smooth patient flow and the effective delivery of services.
- Assume other responsibilities as directed by Dental Assistant Supervisor.
- Oversee ordering of dental department supplies and maintenance of dental equipment for dental department. Perform RDA 1 and DA functions daily.
- Take lead of the RDA column and assist in performing all treatment under the RDA scope
- Identify the treating provider for the visit and work with the site providers who will be managing the overall visits.
- Integrate child wellness with Medical. Promote warm handoffs from Medical to Dental the same day of the child wellness exam.
- Review the patients scheduled in their RDA column and ensure that the patients are there for appropriate services:
- TYKE recall exams at appropriate frequency.
- 6-12 years old Child recall exams and bundled Prophy:
- Patients should have had a Comp or Recall exam within 6-9 months with no outstanding treatment.
- Sealants.
- Temporary Crown.
- Assist in RDA specific duties when a provider’s RDA is unavailable as possible.
- Chart in the note templates prior to the dentist reviewing.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Meet all the requirements mandated by the Dental Board of California for obtaining a Registered Dental Assistant license.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:
- Valid Dental Board of California Registered Dental Assistant license.
- Valid driver's license.
- Valid Sealant certification.
- Valid lifesaving certification.
PRIOR EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 5 years of Registered Dental Assisting experience.
- Knowledge of state and federal regulations.
- Knowledge and understanding of community health centers mission and role.

- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
- Able to quickly build and maintain rapport with patients and providers of differing backgrounds; team player.
