Position OverviewThe Department of American Indian Studies seeks students as Graduate Assistants. Appointments are contingent upon adequate funding. The Graduate Assistant is a student position for those actively enrolled in a graduate program at Fresno State. Students are limited to 20‑hours of part-time work on campus.
Responsibilities- Assist faculty with research and preparation of course materials
- Provide research assistance and practical experience in fields related to advanced study
- Compile water and farm data for the San Joaquin Valley from existing Groundwater Sustainability Agency databases
- Compile California water data from state water databases
- Compile Tribal and Allottee data from California state databases
- Create water maps and Tribal water maps for the San Joaquin Valley
- Minimum GPA 3.0; applicants with a 3.5 or higher are preferred
- International students must have a TOEFL score of 600 or better
- Must enroll in at least 6 units (three of which must be graduate units) for the semester or in two courses applicable to program of study
- Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff and students from diverse ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds
- Previous TA experience at Fresno State considered; peer and student evaluations reviewed
- Experience with GIS and/or other mapping software
