Job Summary
Position located in Fresno, CA. Duration through June 30, 2026. Combination of on-site work on campus and in local schools. This position will oversee programming for the Caruthers Unified School District Junior Doctors Academy and Doctors Academy. They will work closely with staff and students at Caruthers Elementary School and Caruthers High School. Must have reliable transportation.
Key Responsibilities- Provides leadership in the design and implementation of the Doctors Academy Program curriculum and activities
, which will follow a four-year curriculum cycle for participating students. Manages work-based learning opportunities, college-going field trips and associated activities, college preparation services, and clinical activities for K–14 participating students. Plans and organizes regional events and activities including conferences; supervises participating students during summer programming and mentorship experiences in clinical settings. Manages all program components and their associated activity budgets. - Provides leadership in the design of college & career advising course planning in collaboration with department and school site leadership. Provides complex academic advising to participating students. Collaborates with school site personnel to track student academic progress; design academic support plans for students to ensure post-secondary admission eligibility; plan, coordinate, and deliver individual and group advising services as needed. Utilizes institution’s district tutors and additional academic support resources, if available.
Organizes and supervises academic advising, probationary, program exit, and retention meetings with students and their families. Develops and maintains relationships with parents/families to support student academic success and access to higher education while acting as an advocate. - Provides leadership in the production of program reports, data collection, documentation of participant contacts and progress, and tracking of academic progress of program participants. Works collaboratively with department leadership to provide input on short- and long-term strategic and program planning efforts, fiscal sustainability plans, grant report and proposal writing, expenditure needs, and overall direction of program offerings.
- Provides leadership in the design, coordination, and implementation of all outreach and recruitment efforts for the Doctors Academy Program
. Establishes metrics and target strategies with department leadership and stakeholders. Establishes relationships with local community organizations to promote programming to target audiences and ensure approaches are reaching and appropriate for student populations being recruited. - Develops existing and new partnerships/networks with K–12, higher education institutions, and community organizations. Organizes and facilitates stakeholder meetings with K–14 sites and institutions of higher education and serves on department, organization, and external committees, work groups, and coordinating bodies.
- Supports department leadership in recruitment and hiring of professional, student, and/or temporary staff as needed. Assists with other department events, programming, and duties as assigned in support of departmental programs.
- Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training
- Driver's License
- Comprehensive experience advising and supporting educationally disadvantaged students regarding postsecondary opportunities and careers.
- Advanced knowledge of up-to-date information on K–12 and higher education policies and issues, with the ability to assess their impact on program strategies.
- Advanced knowledge and experience working with educational equity programs serving a diverse student population; demonstrated cultural competency with respect to race, ethnicity, and socio-economic status.
- Advanced knowledge of K–12 and higher education institutions (UC, CSU, CC, etc.), admissions and financial aid and scholarship requirements, and matriculation processes.
