The successful candidate will place the student at the center of all work, engage in culturally relevant professional development, and help educate a racially and socioeconomically diverse student population. Position overview Providing instruction in Spanish on the Madera Community College at Oakhurst Campus and/or at off-site community campus locations. The instructor will be responsible for a part-time schedule of Spanish courses and related duties as described below.

Responsibilities
  • Teaching a part-time schedule of Spanish courses as assigned
  • Using a variety of pedagogies and instructional delivery systems, including technology for face-to-face, online, and/or hybrid formats
  • Communicating effectively with students, faculty and staff
  • Applying effective teaching methods aligned with approved curriculum and course outlines of record
  • Evaluating student progress through tests, assignments, and other assessments in line with course objectives
  • Providing course syllabi to students
  • Maintaining classroom records in accordance with District Policy
  • Submitting all required grading and evaluation reports timely
  • Teaching in a variety of instructional settings and times as needed
  • Fulfilling all duties and responsibilities of instructors as required by Administrative Regulation 7122
  • Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications

All candidates must demonstrate responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse backgrounds of community college students and equity-minded practice in the classroom.

  • Master’s in Spanish; or
  • Bachelor’s in Spanish and Master’s in another language or linguistics; or
  • A valid California Community College Credential; or
  • The equivalent education and/or experience (requires an equivalency).

Note: If the degrees posted on your transcript do not match exactly, you must petition for equivalency.

Desirable Qualifications
  • Experience integrating diversity, equity, and inclusion into responsibilities
  • Experience with racially minoritized students and understanding of historical patterns of exclusion in higher education
  • Willingness to examine and improve instructional practices to engage racially minoritized students
  • Experience working with diverse student populations and fostering inclusive environments
  • Experience with technology and instructional tools
  • Strong communication with students and staff
  • Knowledge of current assessment methods
  • Knowledge of the community college mission and goals
Salary and Benefits
  • Newly hired part-time faculty placed on step one of the Part-Time Faculty Salary Schedule
  • Salary placements based on education and experience as outlined in the Part-Time Faculty Salary Classifications
  • Sick leave accrual is based on assignment hours
