Geography Instructor (Part-Time Faculty Pool) – Clovis Community College
OverviewClovis Community College seeks an equity-minded leader committed to student success in a diverse college community. The successful candidate will model equity-minded practices, collaborate with faculty, staff, students and community partners, and contribute to closing equity gaps. Responsibilities- Teaching a part-time schedule of Geography courses as assigned
- Using diverse pedagogies and instructional delivery systems, including technology-enabled face-to-face, online, and/or hybrid formats
- Communicating effectively with students, faculty and staff
- Using effective teaching methods appropriate to the subject matter and adhering to institutionally approved course outlines of record
- Evaluating student progress through tests, assignments, and other assessments aligned with course objectives
- Providing course syllabi to students
- Maintaining classroom records in accordance with District Policy
- Submitting required student grading and evaluation reports in a timely manner
- Teaching assignments in a variety of instructional settings and times, including classes as needed
- Fulfilling all duties and responsibilities of instructors as required by Administrative Regulation 7122
- Other duties as assigned
All candidates must demonstrate responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse backgrounds of community college students and equity-minded practice in the classroom; and
- Master’s in geography; or
- Bachelor’s in geography and Master’s in geology, history, meteorology or oceanography; or
- A valid California Community College Credential; or
- The equivalent education and/or experience (requires an equivalency)

- Experience incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion into responsibilities
- Experience with racially minoritized students and understanding of historical exclusion patterns in higher education
- Willingness to examine and improve instructional practices to support racially minoritized students
- Experience working with diverse students and communities
- Experience facilitating multicultural and cross-cultural communication with sensitivity to diverse backgrounds
- Experience with under-prepared and high-need students
- Ability to collaborate with faculty and staff to enhance instruction and student success
- Proficiency with computers and instructional technologies
- Effective communication with students and staff
- Knowledge of current assessment methods and materials
- Knowledge of the community college mission and goals
- Newly hired part-time faculty will be placed on step one (1) of the Part-Time Faculty Salary Schedule
- Salary classifications are based on education and experience per the Part-Time Faculty Salary Classifications
- Sick leave accrual is based on assignment hours
