Geography Instructor (Part-Time Faculty Pool) – Clovis Community College

Clovis Community College seeks an equity-minded leader committed to student success in a diverse college community. • Teaching a part-time schedule of Geography courses as assigned
• Using diverse pedagogies and instructional delivery systems, including technology-enabled face-to-face, online, and/or hybrid formats
• Communicating effectively with students, faculty and staff
• Using effective teaching methods appropriate to the subject matter and adhering to institutionally approved course outlines of record
• Evaluating student progress through tests, assignments, and other assessments aligned with course objectives
• Providing course syllabi to students
• Maintaining classroom records in accordance with District Policy
• Submitting required student grading and evaluation reports in a timely manner
• Teaching assignments in a variety of instructional settings and times, including classes as needed
• Fulfilling all duties and responsibilities of instructors as required by Administrative Regulation 7122
• Other duties as assigned

All candidates must demonstrate responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse backgrounds of community college students and equity-minded practice in the classroom; and

• Master’s in geography; or
• Bachelor’s in geography and Master’s in geology, history, meteorology or oceanography; or
• A valid California Community College Credential; or
• The equivalent education and/or experience (requires an equivalency)

• Experience incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion into responsibilities
• Experience with racially minoritized students and understanding of historical exclusion patterns in higher education
• Willingness to examine and improve instructional practices to support racially minoritized students
• Experience working with diverse students and communities
• Experience facilitating multicultural and cross-cultural communication with sensitivity to diverse backgrounds
• Experience with under-prepared and high-need students
• Ability to collaborate with faculty and staff to enhance instruction and student success
• Proficiency with computers and instructional technologies
• Effective communication with students and staff
• Knowledge of current assessment methods and materials
• Knowledge of the community college mission and goals

• Newly hired part-time faculty will be placed on step one (1) of the Part-Time Faculty Salary Schedule
• Salary classifications are based on education and experience per the Part-Time Faculty Salary Classifications
• Sick leave accrual is based on assignment hours
