Responsibilities- Teach a part-time schedule of Political Science courses as assigned.
- Use a variety of pedagogies and instructional delivery systems, including technology for face-to-face, online, and/or hybrid formats.
- Communicate effectively with students, faculty and staff.
- Apply effective teaching methods appropriate to the subject matter and adhere to approved curriculum outlines of record.
- Evaluate student progress through tests, examinations, assignments, oral responses, etc., aligned with course objectives.
- Provide course syllabi to students and maintain classroom records in accordance with District Policy.
- Submit all required grading and evaluation reports in a timely manner.
- Teach in a variety of instructional settings and times, including classes as needed.
- Fulfill all duties and responsibilities of instructors as required by Administrative Regulation 7122; perform other duties as assigned.
All candidates must demonstrate responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse backgrounds of community college students and equity-minded practice in the classroom.
- Master’s in political science, government, or international relations; or
- Bachelor’s in any of the above and Master’s in economics, history, public administration, social science, sociology, or any ethnic studies, Juris Doctor Degree (J.D.) or Legum Baccalaureus (LL.B.); or
- A valid California Community College Credential; or
- The equivalent education and/or experience (requires an equivalency).

- Experience incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion into responsibilities.
- Recent experience with racially minoritized students and understanding of historical patterns of exclusion in higher education.
- Willingness to examine and improve instructional practices for racially minoritized students.
- Experience with students from diverse cultural, gender, age, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds, including students with disabilities.
- Experience supporting underrepresented student populations and fostering cross-cultural communication.
- Collaborative work with faculty and staff to enhance instruction and student success.
- Ability to work with computers and educational technologies; effective communication with students and staff.
- Knowledge of current assessment methods and community college mission and goals.
- Newly hired part-time faculty will be placed on step one of the Part-Time Faculty Salary Schedule.
- Salary placements are based on education and experience as outlined in the Part-Time Faculty Salary Classifications.
- Sick leave accrual is based on assignment hours.
