The successful candidate will join a department dedicated to providing services responsive to the students it serves.
Reporting to the Dean of Student Services at Clovis Community College, this counselor assignment will assist students with counseling services and educational planning. The counselor will cover a full range of general counseling services during days, evenings, and weekends. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Provide comprehensive counseling services to students, including academic, career, personal and life transitions counseling;
- Assist in the organization and implementation of matriculation activities, such as orientation, counseling and follow‑up services to students;
- Assist students with major selection, career development planning, and goal identification;
- Maintain close working relationships with faculty, feeder high schools, community and other student services support programs;
- Assist with the development and implementation of the Guided Pathways, Student Equity Achievement (SEA), and other student success initiatives;
- Lead and collaborate in developing programs and student support services designed to improve student retention and graduation rates;
- Develop and maintain professional communications and strategic alliances with Colleges & Universities;
- Work collaboratively with instructional faculty, staff, and administrators in the development of student success initiatives and provisions of counseling services;
- Collaborate with various departments and committees throughout the college to increase access and success for students;
- Utilize technology to track student progress, implement efficient support services, provide counseling services, and make presentations in classrooms and other group settings;
