Chemistry Instructor (Part-Time Faculty Pool)

- Teach part‑time Chemistry courses as assigned.
- Use a variety of pedagogies and integrate innovative technology for face‑to‑face, online, and hybrid formats.
- Communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
- Apply effective teaching methods aligned with institutional curriculum outlines.
- Assess student progress through tests, examinations, written assignments, and oral responses in line with course objectives.
- Provide course syllabi to students.
- Maintain classroom records per District policy.
- Submit all grading and evaluation reports promptly.
- Teach in a variety of instructional settings and times as needed.
- Fulfilling all duties of instructors as required by Administrative Regulation 7122.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, especially in relation to equity‑minded practice.
- Master’s degree in Chemistry; or
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Biochemistry and Master's in Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Chemical Physics, Physics, Molecular Biology, or Geochemistry; or
- Valid California Community College Credential; or
- The equivalent education and/or experience (requires equivalency).

- Experience incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion into all areas of responsibility.
- Recent experience working with African American, Asian/Pacific Islander, Latinx, Native American, and other racially minoritized students.
- Willingness to examine and remediate one’s instructional, relational, and classroom practices to better support racially minoritized students.
- Related work and professional experience.
- Experience working with students of various cultural, gender, age, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds, including those with disabilities.
- Experience with traditionally under‑represented student populations and the ability to support them across sociocultural and socioeconomic diversities.
- Facilitating multicultural and cross‑cultural communication with sensitivity to student diversity.
- Sensitivity to under‑prepared and high‑need students at the community college.
- Desire to work collaboratively with faculty and staff to enhance instruction, curriculum, student learning support, and student success.
- Proficiency with computers and instructional technologies that support high‑quality instruction.
- Effective communication with students and staff.
- Knowledge of current assessment methods and materials.
- Knowledge of the community college’s mission and goals.
- Newly hired part‑time faculty will be placed on step one (1) of the Part‑Time Faculty Salary Schedule.
- Salary classification placements are based on education and experience as outlined in the Part‑Time Faculty Salary Classifications.
- Sick leave accrual is based on assignment hours.
