The successful candidate will join a college dedicated to the students it serves.

Reporting to the Dean of Students, the Counselor will cover a full range of general counseling responsibilities, which include the following:

  • Assist and collaborate in developing student support services with an emphasis on veterans’ needs and services to improve veterans’ access to college and their retention and completion rates.
  • Provide specialized veterans counseling services complying with all required reporting and documentation.
  • Provide comprehensive counseling services to students, including academic, career, personal and life transitions counseling on an appointment and walk‑in basis.
  • Assist in the organization and implementation of matriculation activities, such as orientation, counseling and follow‑up services to students.
  • Assist students with major selection, developing student education plans (SEPs), aligned with their educational goals and career pathways.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of the Guided Pathways, the Student Equity Achievement (SEA) and other student success initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively with instructional faculty, staff, and administrators in the development of student success initiatives and provision of counseling in support of guided pathways and other programs, including but not limited to first‑year experience programs.
  • Assist, as needed, with articulation, student outreach, and recruitment activities.
