Responsibilities
  • Teach a full schedule of developmental and transfer‑level Disabled Students Program and Services courses as assigned;
  • Identify students who will benefit from instruction in DSPS, Developmental Services (DEVSER), pre‑vocational skills training;
  • Evaluate students’ functional limitations, skills, and abilities for appropriate vocational placements;
  • Develop curriculum and individualized instruction plans;
  • Conduct program review, develop and assess student learning outcomes for courses and programs, and use results to improve teaching and learning;
  • Instruct individuals in appropriate pre‑vocational skills;
  • Maintain files and complete reports;
  • Serve as liaison and resource person for college personnel;
  • Participate on campus committees, career awareness and exploration activities, and advising student assistants;
  • Serve on and attend department, college, and district committees as needed;
  • Participate in program review, learning‑outcome development, and assessment to improve student learning;
  • Teach in various instructional settings and times, including evening, weekends, online, off‑campus, and large group instruction; may include off‑campus instruction at local high schools for dual enrollment;
  • Fulfill all duties and responsibilities of instructors as required by Administrative Regulation 7122;
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in disability, special education, education, psychology, educational psychology, or rehabilitation counseling; AND fifteen or more semester units in upper‑division or graduate study in the area of disability, including but not limited to:
    • Learning Disabilities
    • Developmental disabilities
    • Deaf and hearing impaired
    • Physical disabilities
    • Adapted computer technology
  • OR a valid California Community College credential; OR equivalently qualified education/experience (requires equivalency).
Desirable Qualifications
  • Experience and skill incorporating elements of diversity, equity, and inclusion into all areas of responsibility;
  • Recent experience working with racially minoritized students in the classroom and understanding of how historical exclusion patterns affect participation and outcomes;
