Job Summary
The Project Controls Analyst supports Electric Operations by providing cost, schedule, and performance analysis to ensure safe and reliable electric service. This role partners closely with project managers, finance teams, and stakeholders to manage budgets, forecasts, schedules, and reporting across distribution and transmission projects while ensuring compliance with established standards and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and analyze cost and schedule plans to determine project feasibility.
- Create, maintain, and update monthly forecast budgets and cost reports.
- Prepare project performance analysis, cost, and schedule status reports, identifying variances and recommending corrective actions.
- Communicate regularly with project teams, stakeholders, and the public regarding project cost, schedule, and risk status.
- Interface with design, planning resources, and related software systems to review and assist with authorizations and estimates.
- Prepare journal entries and coordinate goods receipts in current software systems.
- Maintain documentation and logs of scope changes, cancellations, and settlement rules.
- Provide monthly cost and schedule reports with variance analysis to project management.
- Support project managers with post‑job critiques and compliance with operations policies and standards.
- Prepare weekly and monthly project management and performance reports, including scorecards.
- Validate weekly and monthly data sets and ensure accuracy of departmental reports.
- Assist project managers as needed with data requests.
- Prepare monthly and weekly project performance, budget, and forecast reports using SAP / BW and EPM.
- Coordinate with stakeholders to create reports that support business decisions and year‑end budgets.
- Summarize and explain project forecast variances for stakeholder reporting.
- Post and update performance status reports on the Project Management website.
- Monitor, analyze, and report departmental forecasting performance using financial tools.
- Explain key cost drivers to leadership through scorecards and lessons learned.
- Coordinate with Project Managers to develop schedules and cash‑flow forecasts.
- Attend kickoff meetings and walk‑downs; maintain and update project schedules.
- Document milestones, risks, and communicate status to stakeholders.
- Use SAP Project System, SAP Work Management, and Primavera P6 for schedule control.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- One year of experience in electric or gas transmission or distribution business operations, business planning, accounting, finance, construction management, or project management. Two years of equivalent experience qualifies for external hires.
- Project Management, Project Controls, or Construction Management.
- Risk Management and Earned Value Analysis.
- Accounting and budgeting experience.
- Forecasting and financial analysis experience.
- PMP or CAPM certification.
- Experience with SPSI reporting.
- Project cost forecasting and budget management.
- Schedule development and analysis.
- Financial and performance reporting.
- SAP Work Management, SAP / BW, BPC, EPM.
- Primavera P6.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel.
- Unifier, Project Wise, Heavy Bid.
