How You Make a DifferenceThe Certified Nursing Assistant performs basic and specialized nursing care functions under the supervision of licensed nurses. They adhere to local and regulatory policies and procedures to ensure proper patient care, collaborate with other healthcare team members and correctional officers, and may float between units to ensure adequate nursing staff.
Key Responsibilities- Provides basic nursing care to patients under the direction of a licensed nurse, including assistance with ADLs, vital sign measurement, and accurate documentation of patient data.
- Maintains professional behavior and prioritizes workflow to ensure completion of all assigned duties, adhering to policies and procedures and promoting patient safety and confidentiality.
- Collaborates with other members of the health care team, participates in staff meetings and training sessions, and notifies the licensed nurse of any patient concerns or issues.
- Demonstrates basic knowledge of nursing procedures and proficiently uses medical supplies and equipment, while also ensuring their proper storage and cleaning.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the supervising nurse, such as assisting with patient care in different units and participating in the orientation of new staff members.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of training course for Nursing Assistants.
- Basic knowledge of patient care methods, procedures, and techniques.
- Ability to handle a variety of simple tasks that are routine in nature, while maintaining orderly workflow.
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen.
- Must be able to pass and maintain clearance for a Public Trust Position, if working with specific patients.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Proficiency with computers and typical software such as Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and various database systems.
- Current certification in the state of practice is required.
3x12 night shifts 6:00 pm – 6:30 am.
